The Challenge

A great idea, no storefront.

Manuka Honey of NZ had a strong concept and a quality product, but no way to sell it. Reaching customers in New Zealand and overseas meant building an international, multilingual store from scratch, one that worked as well on a phone in Dubai as on a desktop in Auckland, and that could scale as the business grew.

The brief was not simply a website. It was the full commercial engine behind a new business: the store, the traffic, and the systems to turn visitors into customers.

The Approach

Expand Online built the Shopify store from the ground up in 2019, designed for international, multilingual selling with a mobile-first experience. From there we ran the channels that bring in customers and keep them: Google Ads, SEO across multiple markets including Arabic-language search, and email marketing.

Rather than handing over a website and walking away, we stayed on as the ongoing digital marketing partner, refining campaigns, content and promotions as the business found its markets.

The Result

From a concept to a multi-country business.

The store launched and scaled into a genuinely international operation, selling into more than 90 countries across Australasia, North America, the Middle East and Asia. To date the business has generated over $4.5 million in online sales across over twenty thousand orders.

Along the way, organic visibility grew from a standing start to page-one rankings for competitive terms like "manuka honey," "manuka honey NZ" and "manuka honey for acne," building a search presence that brings in customers without paying for every click.

In 2020, the project was named a finalist at the IAB Awards, industry recognition of what the build and the strategy achieved.
